Kent, WA Substance Abuse Counselor

Dwayne Brown, SUDP
President
Dwayne is a licensed SUDP and is the Clinical Supervisor for Substance Use Disorder Treatment at the facility. He has been an SUDP since 2007, and has worked as a counselor since 2002. He performs group and individual substance use disorder counseling sessions, drug and alcohol evaluations, Marijuana Awareness Class and Alcohol/Drug Information School. The main therapeutic techniques used are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Oksana Kimpel, MS, SUDP, NCAC I
Vice President
Oksana is a licensed SUDP  and a National Certified Addiction Counselor I. She has a Master’s Degree in Economics from Moscow State Agroengineering University. She has been an SUDP since 2013 and has worked as a CDPT for Alternative Counseling since 2005. She performs group and individual substance use disorder counseling sessions, drug and alcohol evaluations, and Alcohol/Drug Information School. The main therapeutic techniques used are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Ms. Kimpel is also fluent in Russian.

Laura M. Schulz, PhD, MA, LMHC

Mental Health Counselor
Laura Schulz is a licensed Mental Health Counselor. She received her PhD. in Psychology from Capella University and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from City University. She has experience working with veterans and autistic children and has previously worked at Auburn Youth Resources, Enumclaw Youth & Family Services and the Washington State Department of Health. She has worked for Alternative Counseling since July 2016. She performs mental health evaluations, as well as individual, couples, family, and group mental health counseling sessions. The main therapeutic techniques used are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Hannah Rosborough, SUDP

Hannah is a licensed SUDP. She first started working at Alternative Counseling as a counselor in 2005. She performs group and individual substance use disorder counseling sessions and drug and alcohol evaluations. The main therapeutic techniques used are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. James Watts, SUDPT
James is a licensed Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee. He is currently in his final quarter at Highline Community College where he will be completing his AA in Chemical Dependency Counseling.  He has worked with the public during his entire career including customer service and started working for Alternative Counseling in 2019.  He performs group and individual counseling sessions and drug and alcohol evaluations.  The main therapeutic techniques used are Cognitive-Behavorial Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Katherine Duran, MA, SUDPT
Katie is a licensed Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee. She graduated with a Masters in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. She started working for Alternative Counseling in 2019. She performs group and individual counseling and drug and alcohol evaluations. The main therapeutic techniques she uses a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Ms. Duran is also fluent in Spanish.
Nataliya Zharska, MS,  MRTF
Master of Science, Rivne State University, Ukraine, 1987
Nataliya  is an Agency Affiliated Counselor and has been working for Alternative Counseling  since 2007. She is a certified Moral Reconation Therapy facilitator. She is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian.

Client Services Coordinator, Office Assistant
Christina has been working at our Kent location since 2015 and has proven to be an invaluable member of our team. She sets up appointments, helps clients with the paperwork and provides all around support.
